First, when we were backing in our 3,000-gallon tanker the driver spotted a child running behind the unit. He was able to stop and, in doing so, prevented what could have been a serious accident.

Second, while responding to a fire the driver looked at the monitor and saw a section of our hose coming off the truck. He was able to pull over and the firemen were able to place it back on the truck, preventing a possible accident to other vehicles following the truck and damage to the hose. Mass Transit

The claims department makes every attempt to view the video images from the system to evaluate the legitimacy and the nature and extent of the numerous personal injury claims asserted against our agency. The images obtained from the videos have enabled the claims department to successfully deny many claims that might have been paid without that evidence, saving the agency money.

In the litigation department, we have had a great deal of success related to our use of the Safety Vision system. I have presented the video images at numerous arbitration hearings and have obtained defense verdicts on both liability and causation issues. We have also used the images during court trials on at least two occasions, obtaining defense verdicts on both claims. Without the system, we would be left with little or no defense on many of those claims."

"I just wanted to thank you again for all of your and Safety Vision's assistance in my prosecution of the [referenced] criminal case. As you know, I was able to use the Safety Vision surveillance footage from an Antelope Valley Transit Authority bus during the jury trial in this case. That footage had recorded the traffic collision that resulted in the death of our victim. The footage was invaluable to the prosecution of this case. It was powerful evidence that corroborated the testimony of our prosecution witnesses.

At the end of the case, the jury convicted the defendant of second degree murder, gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, and driving under the influence of alcohol. Justice was finally achieved for our victim and her family and friends.

"I thought Safety Vision would be interested in learning how your equipment was used with great effectiveness in capturing a sexual predator on our bus.

Back in January ... a teenage passenger on one of our buses was forced to endure some very sick acts by a male passenger sitting next to her. Unfortunately she did not contact the bus operator at the time; but she did call her parents once she got off the bus, and they in turn contacted the police. The West Haven police called us to view the video, and as a result we were able to print a very clear picture of the perpetrator. His picture was then posted in our drivers' room and two of our alert operators identified the man from the picture. This information was relayed to our dispatcher who immediately called West Haven Police Department, who then met the bus and arrested the suspect.

Without a doubt, had we not had the video equipment and been able to capture his image this person would still be out there committing similar offenses. The West Haven Police are honoring five of our employees who assisted with this matter at their annual awards banquet.

Of all the instances where we have been able to assist local police departments through use of onboard video, this was one of the most satisfying and rewarding."
