Company Milestones

2008

Safety Vision celebrates 15 years in the business of enhancing mobile safety and public security. At this anniversary milestone, the company is providing mobile video cameras and digital recording systems for mass transit, law enforcement, first responder, pupil transportation, product distribution, heavy equipment, haulage, and other commercial and service fleets worldwide. Customized solutions maximize protection against safety and security threats; moving and backing accidents; fraudulent claims and frivolous lawsuits; and vandalism, theft, and other crimes.

2007

The Small Business Administration names Safety Vision President Bruce Smith as Small Business Person of the Year. Selection criteria include businesses' staying power, territorial expansion, square footage occupied, increase in net worth, and growth in personnel.

Safety Vision sales since its 1993 inception top the quarter-billion dollar mark. Additional milestones indicative of Safety Vision’s growth include installation of the company's 500,000th collision avoidance camera system, its 100,000th school bus recording system, and its 40,000th public transit surveillance system.

2006

Safety Vision continues to expand the law enforcement, pupil transportation and mass transit product lines by introducing the PatrolRecorder™ series of digital police solutions, including the PatrolRecorder PRO, CF and RHD models,  the RouteRecorder™ 5C, 2C, and CF models and our premiere MDVR -- the 10-camera RoadRecorder 6000® PRO. Other technology innovations include SafetyNet™, a wireless busyard data collection network solution.

2005

Safety Vision moves into new corporate headquarters located in northwest Houston. Introduces a new digital offering, the RouteRecorder® 1000: a single-camera, dual-channel, entry level digital system as a drop-in mobile digital video recorder (MDVR) replacement for analog-based VCR systems.

2004

With the asset purchase of On Patrol Video, Safety Vision enters the law enforcement video sector.  Merging  acquired products and technology with the company's existing mobile recording expertise and product suite, the company pursues improved solutions for both analog and digital in-car patrol video.

2003

Safety Vision shifts its focus from distributor to manufacturer introducing the RoadRecorder 6000, a digital video recording system, along with other mobile video products.

2002

Fast Tech 50 - The Fast Tech 50 Awards are given to the 50 high-tech Houston-based companies that have experienced the greatest percentage growth in 2001.

Div2000 - America's Top Organizations for Multicultural Business Opportunities selected the Forbes 500 companies and Government agencies that best promote multicultural business opportunities.

2001

Best Places to Work - 2nd Place. The Houston Business Journal does not subjectively choose companies to be honored. Companies chosen were evaluated in a rigorous statistics-based program where benefits offered by the companies and views of employees working there are considered.

2000

Houston 100 - Rank #43. The Houston 100® is a ranking of the fastest growing private businesses making the greatest economic impact on the Houston area.

Blue Chip Enterprise Award - Texas State Winner. The Blue Chip Enterprise Award recognizes small businesses that have demonstrated the ability to withstand the cyclical nature of business, overcome adversity, seize opportunities and succeed.

Entrepreneur of the Year - Finalist. The Entrepreneur of the Year award is given to the candidate that illustrates the courage, imagination, and perseverance it takes to pursue the entrepreneurial dream.

1999

Recipient of several honors: The Houston 100 - Rank #86, Blue Chip Enterprise Award - Texas State Winner and Entrepreneur of the Year - Finalist.

1998

Inc. 500 - Rank #298. Inc. Magazine ranks the top 500 fastest growing private companies in America.

1997

Safety Vision begins distribution of mobile digital video recorders (MDVRs) for the Mass Transit and School Bus industries. Annual sales reach over $4.5M and company gains 8a/DBE status.

1996

Safety Vision acquires FleetNet and becomes Clarion Master Distributor. Company ranks #12 in the Houston 100 list of fastest growing privately held companies in Houston.

1995

Business increases fivefold by landing many national accounts.

1994

Safety Vision adds analog on-board video product line for the Mass Transit and School Bus industries.

1993

Safety Vision is formed as a distributor for Clarion Rear Vision collision avoidance camera systems.
